PREMIER MAKWETLA‘S ITINERARY 22 – 27 MARCH 2005

TAKING PARLIAMENT TO THE PEOPLE, 22 MARCH 2005

Premier will attend the first sitting of the Mpumalanga Legislature in Gert Sibande since the start of the roving Legislature sittings this year. The entire members of Mpumalanga Legislature will debate issues affecting the people of Mpumalanga closer to the affected people.

SAFETY AND SECURITY IMBIZO, 23 MARCH 2005

Premier will join Minister of Safety and Security, Mr Charles Nqakula and MEC of Safety and Security, Ms Dina Pule to encourage people to hand over illegal fire arms before the cut off deadline of Fire arms amnesty at Msogwaba Stadium. The Imbizo will be preceded by bricklaying at Daantjie Police station and a visit to Kanyamazane Police Station.

SIYADLALA PROVINCIAL LAUNCH, 24 MARCH 2005

Premier will together with Minister of Sport and Recreation, Mr Makhenkesi Stofile, Deputy Minister Gert Oosthuizen and MEC of Culture, Sport and Recreation, Ms Nomsa Mtsweni launch the Provincial Siyadlala Mass participation Programme at Dr JS Moroka Municipality.

DISABILITY AWARENESS RALLY

The Office on the Status of Disabled Persons (OSDP) in the Office of the Premier in partnership with all Government Departments and the Disability sector all communities of the Mpumalanga Province will be holding a Disability Awareness Rally on the 31st March 2005 at the Kamaqhekeza Stadium.

The purpose of the rally is to entrench the culture of human rights as well as promote and raise awareness on the rights, dignity and the needs of our people with disabilities.

Disability is a human rights and development issue and therefore within the context of the Human Rights month we would like to join hands in partnership with all communities of the province in celebrating the human rights of people with disabilities.

Premier Makwetla will deliver a keynote address. Representatives from the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), the Disability sector and other important guests will grace the occasion.
