| NEW CHAIRPERSON FOR THE HOUSE OF TRADITIONAL LEADERS

Nelspruit – A new Chairperson of Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders was elected on Thursday, 28 April 2005, at the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature.
Chief MD Mthethwa of Madabukela Tribal Authority was elected as the new Chairperson of the Mpumalanga House of Traditional Leaders in an election conducted by a full sitting of the House of Traditional Leaders. He takes over from Chief MF Mashile of Mashilane Tribal Authority who completed his five-year term this year.
Chief AS Mohlala was elected as a Deputy Chairperson with Chief CE Mathebe, Chief CM Dlamini and Chief MF Mashile as members of the Executive Council.
Three Chiefs, namely: MS Mahlalela, JV Nhlapho and CE Mathebe, were elected to serve as representatives of the Mpumalanga at the National House of Traditional Leaders based in Cape Town.
Mpumalanga Premier Thabang Makwetla, who chaired the elections, said the Mpumalanga Provincial Government and the Legislature “fully support the Traditional Leadership of the Province”.
“Our wish to you is that you contribute in improving the lives of the people of Mpumalanga”, said Makwetla.
He mentioned that this could be accomplished through working together.
Delivering his augural address Chief MD Mthethwa said the challenges facing the Traditional Leaders in the Province, among others, include building a strong capacity and putting more support to the Government in order to create better lives for all people of the Province. Phambili nga Makhosi!
