Mpumalanga organizes a Fan Park for Finals of Africa Cup of Nations

Mpumalanaga Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation will organize a Fan Park for the people of Mpumalanga so that they could enjoy live on giant screens the finals of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations where the champions of Africa will be crowned.

The Fan Park will be held on 10 February 2008 at SASOL Club in Secunda in the Gert Sibande Region. The Fan Park is part of the provincial government’s preparations for the coming 2010 FIFA world Cup where Fan Parks will be established for people who will not be able to got o the stadiums.

Gates will be open from 16h00 at the Fan Park and people are urged to come early and entertainment will be galore with well known National and Local artists.

The Fan Park will also promote social cohesion among the people of Mpumalanga and mobilize them to support soccer and tournaments of this magnitude.

MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation, Jabu Mahlangu says the Africa Cup of Nations trophy is a prestigious and most envied soccer award in the African continent.

“The provincial government will continue to work with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that our country hosts a successful world cup and the fan parks that we have organized have helped us and we will continue mobilizing people in the province to support tournaments like the Africa Cup of Nations as we move towards 2010,” MEC Mahlangu says.

MEC Mahlangu further appeals to the people in the province to rally behind the two teams that will qualify for the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations and come in large numbers to the Fan Park.
