MEC DLAMINI INSPIRES VALENCIA COMBINED SCHOOL

"Effort is Success" – this powerful motto defines the spirit of Valencia Combined School in the City of Mbombela Local Municipality. It reflects the relentless drive, passion and dedication demonstrated by every teacher, staff member and learner within the school community.

The recent improvement in the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate Examination results – rising from a pass rate of 88% in 2023 to an impressive 91.3% in 2024 is confirmation to the strength of this philosophy. The school’s dedication, commitment and a collective effort is testament that success is not just possible but inevitable.

During her visit to the school, the MEC for Education, Ms. Cathy Dlamini, praised the school for its unwavering dedication and performance. She was so moved by the commitment of the school that she donated a wheelchair to a grade 11 learner, Thandolwethu Sedi which was secured through the Constituency Office.

In addition, MEC Dlamini announced that should Thandolwethu succeed in passing Grade 12, the Department of Education would offer a full bursary to attend any public university in South Africa. The MEC also expressed her gratitude to the principal, Mr. White, school management team, the school governing body, led by the SGB Chairperson, Ms. Moodley and the teachers for their tireless efforts. Their dedication continues to shape the success of the school and inspire every learner to reach their full potential.

Valencia Combined School has made a powerful pledge to continue improving results in all grades. The school is united in its belief that no one will be left behind, and together, every learner has the opportunity to succeed. Thandolwethu, in the presence of his father, Mr. Ian Sesi, expressed his gratitude for the wheelchair and the offer of a bursary and promised to work hard and give back to the hand that has given to him in the future. With continued effort, determination, and unity, the best is yet to come!
