Mpumalanga Matric Mpumalanga Grade Twelve Recovery Plan

The Mpumalanga Department of Education has developed a plan to recover the lost teaching and learning contact time as a result of the recent Industrial Action.

The plan intends to engage all important role players such as educators, learners, parents and non governmental organizations, and labour organisations to collectively intensify programmes aimed at recovering the time lost.

In addition, the Department will extensively use the electronic and print media to supplement the above mentioned efforts.

A team of officials with expect knowledge on different subjects will be deployed to the under mentioned radio stations to help learners with information on specific subject content.

Possibilities of using other radio stations are being considered and the public will be informed on the developments in this regard.

Radio programmes have been scheduled to commence on 2 July 2007 and are as follows:

  • Ligwalagwala FM

    • 9H00 to 10h00(Monday to Thursday)

    • 14h00 to 15H00 (Monday to Thursday)

  • Ikwekwezi FM

    • 9H45 to 10H00 (Monday to Thursday)

    • 15H15 to 15H30 (Monday to Thursday)

    • 21H30 to 22H00 (Wednesday: Science and Technology)

  • At the same time, an educational supplement will be inserted in all provincial and regional newspapers with effect from 09 July 2007. These papers are:

    • Barbeton times (Wednesday) Daller (Tuesday)

    • Highvelder (Tuesday) Highveld Ridge (Wednesday)

    • Lowvelder (Tuesday & Friday) Middelburg Observer (Mondays& Tuesday)

    • Mpumalanga News (Thursday) Standerton Advertiser (Friday)

    • Steelburger (Friday) Witbank News (Tuesday& Friday)

The national Department of Education will also provide additional newspaper supplements to schools throughout the country.

Learners are also advised to tune in to SABC Learning Channel for daily lessons for Grade 11 and 12 on SABC 1 every weekday from 10am to 12pm as well as from 6 to 7am on weekends.

The grade 12 final Timetable has already been sent to all schools through the line function so that learners and parents can take note of the remaining days left before the examination commence on 10 October 2007.

Pervious years question papers will be made available to learners on study guides, newspaper supplements and the departmental website at www.mpumalanga.gov.za/education

It will be advisable that parents monitor and motivate learners to take advantage of the opportunities brought about by this Recovery Plan.

This plan focus on the grade 12 learners however the Department encourage all learners to creatively initiate enabling opportunities to cash up for the lost time.

The public is informed that school music competitions and indigenous games have been cancelled so that adequate time can be used to implement this Recovery Plan
