Kwamhlanga hospital open doors for communities
25 August 2008
As part of ongoing efforts to make hospitals
community driven and centers of service excellence,
Kwamhlanga hospital will hold its open day on Friday
05 September 2008. The open day is aimed at
providing information to end users of our service,
the community, and to allow and provide time and
space for dynamic engagement on issues of customer
care, quality of care and community participation.
Gone are the days where patients or community are
seen as passive participants in the running and
management of hospitals aimed at providing services
to them.
The New Health Act empowers communities to play a
pivotal role in the management of health facilities
and to ensure that at all times they serve the
interests of the community. The Act further provides
for establishment of hospital boards where
communities have representatives to articulate their
views and interests. All hospitals have thus been
advised to regularly hold open days and provide for
community participation.
The honorable mayor of Thembisile Hani
municipality Clr VV Nkosi and HIS Royal Highness
King Makhosonke will be amongst high profile
dignitaries who will attend the open day.
Media is invited.
