Counting down in the Nelspruit Host City

2 March 2010

The Nelspruit Host City will be embarking on an exciting programme, as South Africa counts down the last 100 days to the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

Departing from the Mbombela Civic Centre, the FIFA Open Bus, will tour some of the municipal areas, on 5 March 2010.

The FIFA Bus will leave at 08h00 for the KaNyamazane Civic Centre, for brief stop-over. The FIFA Bus will then head for the KaBokweni and White River Civic Centres.   The second FNB Countdown Clock will thereafter be unveiled at the Grove Shopping Centre, where the Executive Mayor, Cllr Lassy Chiwayo and the MEC Mr Vusi Shongwe will address the community.

At the same time, the Adidas Bafana Bafana Jersey will be at the Riverside Mall and later at the Park in the Nelspruit Civic Centre where the public will have an opportunity to sign their messages of support on the humongous jersey.

The FIFA Open Bus will then move from The Grove Shopping Centre to the Matsafeni community at approximately 12h00, stop at the Dodekaeder in Steiltes at 13h30 and the final stop will be at the Mbombela Civic Centre Park at 14h00.

At the Mbombela Park, a countdown address will be done by the Executive Mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Cllr CN Mkhonto, while musician Lira and various other artists will entertain the crowd.   Members of the public are encouraged to join the Countdown Celebrations at the Mbombela Park, where refreshments will be on sale.
