MEC Phosa to table Mpumalanga budget for 2012/2013

Mpumalanga Department of Finance MEC Pinky Phosa will on
Tuesday 06 March 2012 table the 2012/2013 provincial budget to the Provincial
Legislature.
In terms of the Public Finance Management Act
(PFMA), Act 1 of 1999 (as amended by Act 29 of 1999). Chapter 4 of the PFMA
stipulates that: “Parliament and each provincial legislature must appropriate
money for each financial year for the requirements of the state and province.

Media lockup session
Journalists/Editors are advised that there will be a media lock-up session on the same day. The purpose is to give journalists first hand information on the budget and to interact with the Treasury Team, which will answer all questions relating to the budget.
Please note
As no communication of any nature either by telephone, e-mail or any other means is allowed during the lock-up, we recommend that journalists who will not be working on the budget story, work from elsewhere.
- Cellphones are to be switched off, placed in an envelope and handed over to Provincial Treasury officials.
- E-mails cannot be sent during the lock-up; landline telephones must be off the hook and should not be used under any circumstances.
- You cannot use any device that can send out any form of communication;
- Nobody will be allowed to leave the lock-up before the embargo is lifted.
- Journalists will be escorted to the venue after the lock up
