14 June 2017

Attention: Assignment Editors

Mbombela - Mpumalanga Province will on 16 June 2017 join the entire country in commemorating the Youth Day at Kamhlushwa Stadium in Nkomazi Local Municipality.

This year’s theme is “The year of O.R. Tambo, advancing youth economic participation”. The former ANC leader’s commitment to youth development was correctly captured when he said, “A country that does not take care of its youth does not deserve its future”.

During this Youth month several build-up events have been planned in the three districts. These activities are aimed at showcasing the opportunities that are there for the youth, access to jobs, empowerment, businesses and projects run by young people.

The main aim is to ensure that young people participate and contribute towards economic growth and development of the province and country as well as reduce the level of unemployment.

A day prior to Youth Day, the Members of the Executive will visit several youth projects in the area. The youth will be given the opportunity to interact with the MECs’ through scheduled mini meetings.
