18 May 2022

Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane welcomes a delegation of the National government, to be led by the President, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa to the Presidential Imbizo. The province is the third to host the District Development Model (DDM) Presidential Imbizo on Friday, in Carolina. The President will be accompanied by Cabinet Ministers to the imbizo. MECs, Executive Mayors and Councillors will also attend.

Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane commended the President for his decision to consider Mpumalanga as the next province to host the Imbizo. She says this affirms the 6th Administration’s commitment to participatory democracy.

About two thousand people across the province, among them, traditional leaders, civil society organs, labour, women, youth, persons with disabilities and business are expected to attend. The function affords them an opportunity to engage the President and government leadership at the three spheres, on service delivery issues. It further affords them the opportunity to share with government solutions on service delivery challenges.

The Premier says arrangements will be in place for the citizens to express their views without restrictions. This include recording of messages through social media, to give effect to the ‘no-one will be left behind’ theme, as pronounced by the President.

She urged citizens to exersize patience and conduct themselves in a respectful manner for the function to yield the desired outcomes.
