Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane and MECs to undertake service delivery oversight in Emalahleni Local Municipality

Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane will next week lead a two-day service delivery oversight visit in Emalahleni Local Municipality, in the Nkangala District. The Premier, accompanied by the entire Executive Council, will visit various government projects and also engage with communities, in an effort to address service delivery challenges affecting the municipality.

The Executive Council outreach and Premier’s Imbizo programme is also aimed at reporting back to the communities, issues that were brought to the government’s attention previously. The Provincial Government has invested in infrastructure projects, ranging from human settlements and roads to health and educational facilities within the municipality. Furthermore, the municipality has also benefitted from social labour projects from the business sector.

Emalahleni Local Municipality is a confluent of urban and rural areas, with large farms and urban settlements. It is at the centre of a coal-mining area in which many colliery operate. The programme will commence with a visit to projects, led by Mtshweni-Tsipane and Members of the Executive, and will be followed by the Premier’s Imbizo, a platform aimed at community engagement.

The programme is arranged for 12 – 13 December 2023 and will take place as follows:

Day 1 - Projects visit and provision of government services at the Thubelihle Stadium (Kriel).

Day 2 - Premier’s Imbizo at the Leornard Ntshuntshe Secondary School Sportsfield (Ezinambeni/Vosman).

The Premier’s Imbizo will start at 10h00.
