MPG pleased with milestone achievement of mass-based provincial events

12 December 2023

The Mpumalanga Provincial Government (MPG) has expressed its satisfaction on the milestone achievement, recorded during the recent mass-based entertainment events. Most of these festivities are linked to the Cultural Xperience, a Provincial signature event, showcasing various music genres. One of the events, held at the Mbombela Stadium, the 013 Summer Blaze, attracted about 30 000 entertainment revelers.

The MPG-backed Cultural Experience, included a mixture of music, film, comedy and carnival festivities, such as the 013 Summer Blaze, cultural music as well as the Kasi Xperience, and are significant towards social cohesion. The gospel genre, held under the auspices of the Mpumalanga Gospel Awards, was the final event, to mark the end of the 2023 eventful Cultural Xperience.

Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane commended the organisers of the events for the efficient coordination. “We are on a quest to showcase Mpumalanga’s capacity to host major events, as a catalyst of tourists attraction. We are pleased that these entertainment events have repositioned Mpumalanga as a Province with a capacity, and have exposed visitors to our tourism attraction sites,” the Premier explained.

During the festivities, the award-winning artist, singer, rapper and actor, popularly known as Sjava, hosted a one man-show in this beautiful place of the Rising Sun.

Mtshweni-Tsipane further congratulated the organisers and the revelers for the incident-free events. She says they are a cornerstone of government’s job creation plan. “Our Provincial Government understands and appreciates their contribution towards the creation of short term job opportunities and the support for Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs). Their efforts have not gone un-noticed. We are inspired by the good behavior of the revelers. This will motivate the organisers to prioritise Mpumalanga as a host for major events in the future,” the Premier emphasised.

Mtshweni-Tsipane urged communities to act responsibly during the festive season.
