Statistics South Africa to hand over Census 2022 report to Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane

13 November 2023

Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) will hand over the Census 2022 Report to the Mpumalanga Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane. Census report is an important data source used for planning, and is essential for the state to take evidence-based decisions. It provides data on the demographic, economic and social makeup of the country. The findings from census are key in tracking service delivery programmes.

StatsSA conducted the first ever digital population and housing census last year, since the advent of democracy, using hand-held devices. Information was collected via digital questionnaires, and the public completed the survey via the internet.

StatsSA handed over the national results of the Census 2022 to the President, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa in October this year.

A media briefing, to be addressed by Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane and StatsSA, led by Statistician-General, Mr Risenga Maluleke is scheduled as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 15 November 2023
Time: 10:30
Venue: EXCO Boardroom, Makhonjwa Building, City of Mbombela Local Municipality
