Premier Ndlovu to visit best performing Mokebe Secondary School in Dr JS Moroka Municipality

22 January 2025

Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu, will on Friday this week undertake a visit to one of the best performing Quintile 1 schools in the province, the Mokebe Secondary of Ga-Morwe village in Dr JS Moroka Municipality.

The school obtained 100 percent performance in the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate Examination Results, as 66 out of 112 learners achieved Bachelor’s pass. Established in 1976, the school had 523 learners with 12 educators in the 2024 academic year.

Irrespective of its good matric performance in the previous academic year, the school prioritised to achieve another 100 percent pass rate for the Grade 12 results, with 80 percent Bachelor’s pass, and to improve learner performance in internal classes.

Last week Premier Ndlovu, accompanied by MEC for Education, Ms. Cathy Dlamini and the Executive Mayor of Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality, Cllr. Mbuso Magubane, visited the Mkolishi Secondary school, based at Tjakastad, as part of the Back to School Pogramme. Just like the Mokebe Secondary, the Mkolishi Secondary school is categorised as a Quintile 1 learning institution and recorded a 100 percent Matric pass rate.

Mr. Ndlovu believes that these schools are models of excellent performance, regardless of the challenges they are faced with.

The Premier’s visit to Mokebe school is scheduled as follows;

Date: Friday, 24 January 2025
Venue: Mokebe Secondary School, Ga-Morwe, Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality
