Premier Ndlovu to address provincial TB day event in Mkhondo

26 March 2025

The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will host a Tuberculosis (TB) day event on Friday, to intensify eradication measures of the disease. This as the country embarks on a screen and test campaign, targeting five million people, for the realization of a TB-free society by 2035.

The Premier, Mr Mandla Ndlovu will address the provincial event, aimed at educating communities about the impact of TB as the number one killer disease in the country. The Premier will further outline government’s steps geared towards the achievement of the 2035 milestone target. Members of the Executive as well as Executive Mayors, the civil society and the private sector, will attend the event.

As the country steps up measures to eradicate TB, the Mpumalanga Provincial Government is already at an advanced stage to save communities against the impact of the disease. These include, but not limited to, the deployment of mobile clinics with TB testing facilities, a roll out of community-based services of screening and testing people in their households, and mobilization of communities to participate in the Cheka Impilo campaign, an accelerated wellness initiative to encourage regular screening and testing, for people to know their health status.
