Mpumalanga Human Settlements MEC Mashilo sworn-in as Acting Premier

Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane has appointed Human Settlements MEC Speed Mashilo as the Acting Premier for the period from 25 July – 05 August 2022. The appointment of MEC Mashilo is in accordance with section 131 (1) (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa. Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane will be out of the country attending the 24th International AIDS Conference in Montreal, Canada.

The International Aids Conference is a global HIV and AIDS response which is attended by amongst others, people living and affected by HIV, scientists and policy makers.

The conference gives an evidence-based scientific research by galvanising the scientific response, build global solidarity and enhance human dignity for all those living with and affected by HIV. It further convenes, educates and advocate for a world in which HIV no longer presents a threat to public health and individual well-being.

The Premier will be accompanied by Health MEC, Ms Sasekani Manzini, the Acting Head of Department of Health, Ms Duduzile Mdluli and Mpumalanga Provincial Aids Council Chairperson from the civil society, Ms Sonto Nkosi.

Judge President of the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court, Justice Francis Legodi, administered the oath-taking ceremony.
