Premier Mtshweni-Tsipane hails Idols winner, Thabo Ndlovu a hero
05 November 2023Thabo Ndlovu, a contestant from Mpumalanga has made history by winning the grand farewell final of the Idols SA Season 19 on Saturday. Idols SA has been one of South Africa’s sought-after music competitions, over the past 19 years.
Ndlovu, a 24 year old contestant from Emalahleni Local Municipality is the fourth Idols SA winner from the Province. The Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane says by winning the title, Ndlovu has registered his name among the galaxy of stars in the music arena. “We congratulate Thabo for winning such a coveted music accolade in the history of Idols SA. He represents dozens of young people in our Province, who are standing on the edges, to prove their talents,” Mtshweni-Tsipane stated.
In this year’s competition, two Mpumalanga contestants, battled it out for number one. Ndlovu faced Princess McDonald (24) of Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. In the history of the competition, three contestants from Mpumalanga have won it. They are: Musa Sukwene, Karabo Mogane and Zama Khumalo.
Mtshweni-Tsipane says even though Ndlovu is the ultimate winner, McDonald proved herself to be a winner in her own right, and that the pair represented Mpumalanga very well throughout the competition. “She too is a winner because her hard work and dedication has brought her to the second position. This shows she has what it takes to be a winner,” the Premier explained.
Ndlovu’s victory is testament to the good musical record that Mpumalanga posess. “The fact that two of the contestants in the finale are from Mpumalanga, as well as three of the previous winners, is evidence enough that we are a Province with a musical DNA. Ndlovu, just like his predecessors, has nailed the colours of Mpumalanga to the mast,” the Premier stated.
She further urged the youth to emulate the example set by Ndlovu and all other luminaries of the Province.
