Mpumalanga Premier conveys condolences to the bereaved families of accident tragedy
09 January 2025The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu has conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families of the thirteen (13) passengers who lost their lives in an accident which occurred on Saturday, on the R40 road near Hoedspruit in Limpopo.
Premier Ndlovu joined the Limpopo government in expressing the condolences to the bereaved families. “We are still reeling in shock due to the tragedy which occurred on Saturday. One death is way too many. On behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of Mpumalanga, I wish to extend our condolences to the families of the deceased for the loss of their loved ones,” said the Premier.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident. A preliminary report attributes the contributing factor to a collision between a minibus taxi and a bakkie.
The three (3) survivors have since been transferred to a hospital in Pretoria for medical treatment. Premier Ndlovu expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery of the survivors. “We wish them a speedy recovery. We are optimistic that the team of medical experts attending to them, will do their utmost best to save their lives,” he explained.
It is believed that the 10 passengers were travelling from Mpumalanga towards the direction of Hoedspruit in Limpopo, when the accident occurred. The Premier commended a team of law enforcement agencies and emergency services in Limpopo for their swift response. He urged all affected parties, including family members to cooperate with the investigation and medical teams, until all processes of medical treatment and funeral are finalized.
