PREMIER'S ADDRESS
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are honoured to welcome you to our Province, “Place of the Rising Sun”, at this auspicious occasion.
Most of us have met in the past, but our encounters were at places where pleasure could not be mixed business with business. We met at places were we were holed up in discussions. Discussing about development in this province. Talking about working for a better life for all our people-black and white.
We met as business, as government, as patriots, a nation confident of itself, aware of its immense possibilities and prepared to extra-ordinary things to attain the goal that comes from creating a better quality of life for all.
Today we meet in a different setting-as fun-lovers, sportspeople, fund-raisers. People meeting for a worthy cause. We should never under-estimate the influence, importance and potential of sport development on the development of society.
Sport starts are increasingly become role model for our youth, and successful sport development projects are essential for the healthy and safe development of the leaders and citizen tomorrow.
There are tremendous opportunities for the expansion of our Province's existing partnership with business and with communities in the initiation and development of sport projects of this nature, the potential for these project to make a significant contribution to addressing a variety of problems facing our society and ensuring the total development in our youth is considerable.
The Premiers' Sport Development Initiative carries my full support and I look forward to seeing the participation of business interests from across the spectrum in our Sunrise Province in this event, in whichever way is appropriate for them.
This initiative represent a bright opportunities for all of us join hands in a constructive effort to expand the opportunities available to our youth, under circumstances that are removed from the immediate challenges facing us.
We urge very citizen of Mpumalanga to support this event as a tangible proof of the people of this Province to this worthy cause, and thereby to the development of our province and our country.
The proceeds of the Mpumalanga Premiers' Cup Golf Day, through the Premier's Sport Development Initiative, will be allocated to approved Premiers' projects. Given the objectives of this Initiative which include nation building networking, crime prevention- the opportunities exists to involve and to benefit a wide range of groups and interests in our society.
Our thanks are due to the organisers of this Golf Day and they can be as confident as we are that Mpumalanga will fully utilize the opportunity created in this way.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we thank you for your support and for your investment in the future of our province and our beautiful country.
I Thank You.
