PREMIER'S ADDRESS

Kabokweni is a place that was brought into existence because of the previous policy of segregation.

As a result the needs and necessities of the people were not taken into consideration.

It is this state of affairs that now we find that one Police Station need to provide service for a huge population such as this Area.

I note with concern that this Police Station is policing even surrounding areas which include our respected Amakhosi. It definitely reflects the bad policies of force removals that brought people to places where they had no choice but to adhere to the then status quo.

The ANC government respect Traditional Authorities. It therefore encouraged our police service, to work together with traditional leaders and their councils in order to stamp out criminals who seem to spread even to the rural settlement to abuse our children and mothers. We also encourage the police in this station to strengthen transformation and support service delivery.

We encourage the co-operation of the Police Service with Community Policing forum to deal with this horrendous crime.

Criminals must be dealt with effectively in order to make this place a no go area for them.

We call upon our community to close ranks and join forces with the police service by reporting criminals and any criminal activity in order to free our communities from this dreadful crime diseases.

It should be born in mind that criminals are from communities, they are children, sons and daughters of the community who unfortunately have chosen to live on the negative and unwanted angle which cannot be tolerated; they instead need to be taken out of the community.

Though resources are minimal, let us use them effectively and in a good way to deliver service to our community. The police men and women should be proud of and own their service. This will only happen if good policemen and women will close ranks and expose evil elements. It is unfortunate when members of the service are in cahoots with criminals, let me promise that in that case the law will take its course.

Let me also call upon each and every member here to transform internally so that the product thereof will lead to clean and effective police service. Let us uphold service delivery. And the principle of clean governance.

I call upon the police to extend themselves to limits if need be for the sake of dealing with crime.

The community should in turn extend their reception of the service by not harbouring criminals but exposing them so that there is better life for all.

My visit here today, confirms the concerns of the President and the government, about the escalating crime rate in this area.I therefore call upon all of us to show that we can fight criminals. We have to declare this place a crime free area and ensure that atrocities committed against women, children and business people, came to an end.

Thank you.
