Mission
To establish mechanisms and procedures that will advance government towards gender equality
The core functions of the office
- To provide a coordination framework for the effective implementation of the gender programme at all levels of government
- To formulate policy and undertake research on gender issues
- Monitor the implementation of policies on gender and related issues within government departments
- To a advance national and provincial policy on women empowerment
- To develop key indicators for measuring the provincial progress towards gender equality
- To facilitate awareness-raising and confidence-building among women
- To consult and liaise with civil society and Legislature
