MEC Sibongile Manana has applauded the
police for the swift arrest of eight
suspect linked to the murder of three
Amersfoort police officers murdered two
weeks ago.
Some of the suspects are allegedly
having confessed to have worked with at
least two police officers in their
botched attempt to bomb the Amersfoort
FNB ATM.
Three police officers were killed when
the unknown gunmen shot and killed them
while doing their normal crime
prevention patrol in Amersfoort.
“It is encouraging that the police have
moved with full speed in dealing with
this hurting case. They have responded
to the call made that the rogue elements
be urgently brought to book to face the
consequences of their evil deeds.
“The arrest will assist towards sending
a strong message to other criminals that
crime does not pay. If these are found
guilty, they will rot in jail because
there is no place for criminals in our
country,” she said.
The MEC added that the arrest will also
bring closure for the families of the
victims.
Manana has reiterated her call
to the community to partner with police
so that the fight against crime is won.
“We must not be afraid of the criminals,
let us expose them by alerting the
police,” said Manana.
