MPUMALANGA TO HOST 2010 SAFETY AND SECURITY SUMMIT

Mpumalanga Safety and Security Honourable MEC Siphosezwe Masango will host a two-day 2010 Safety and Security Summit on 22 and 23 May 2008 in Nelspruit at Crocodile Country Inn. The summit will be hosted in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation, Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Mbombela Local Municipality and the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Among others, the summit’s objectives are:

To brief provincial safety and security stakeholders on progress with regard to general preparations for the 2010 FFA World Cup
To outline the safety and security requirements for the 2010 FIFA World Cup
To share information on the plans and programs of the various partners in Mpumalanga and agree on mechanisms of how these plans can be aligned with initiatives of the Host City and the Organizing Committee, and
To formulate a process for the development of an integrated provincial safety and security plan.
