Statement on the passing on of King Mayitjha III
It is with a deep sense of sadness that we learnt of the passing on of His Royal Highness, King Mayitjha III.
On behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of Mpumalanga, allow us to extend our hearfelt and sincere condolences to the family and friends of this great patriot.
The Royal House of Mabhoko will always be remembered for the sterling role it played in the early 80’s in resisting Bantu Stan Independence.
The leadership provided by King Mayitjha III and other members of the Royal Family ensured that the people of the former KwaNdebele area rose up almost as one and joined the progressive sources in rendering the Apartheid Bantu Stan policies unworkable.
The people of former KwaNdebele refused to allow the country to be carved up into areas of poverty and neglect.
In the post apartheid era, King Mayitjha III and other Members of the Royal Family played and continue to play a role in the reconstruction and development of our Province and country.
May the family, relatives and friends find solace in the knowledge that we are with them and will continue to be by their side.
We hope they have the strength and courage to face these difficult times.
