| Mpumalanga province will celebrate Freedom Day on 27 April 2008 at Lekwa Municipality satellite offices in Morgenzon in the Gert Sibande district 14 April 2008 Mpumalanga Premier Thabang Makwetla will deliver a keynote address. The theme for this year's Freedom Day is "Business unusual, all hands on the deck to speed up change". Various government departments including South African Security Agency, Home Affairs and parastatals such as Umsobomvu will conduct exhibitions during the celebration where they will inform and service the citizens of Mpumalanga on the day. The celebrations will start with a health walk at 06h00 at the venue followed by performances from various cultural groups and end with a music festival, featuring Rebecca Malope, Phuzekhemisi, DJ Cleo, DJ Sdunkero, Chomee, PMJ, Thokozani Simelane and Bleksem at 18h00.
