PROVINCIAL COMMUNITY IMBIZO AT KRIEL.
Premier Thabang Makwetla accompanied by MEC for Local Government and Housing, Mr Jabu Mahlangu and MEC for Safety and Security, Ms Dina Pule will hold a Community Imbizo at Kriel as part of government’s efforts of strengthening the municipal’s capacity to deliver services to the people.
Kriel, in Emalahleni Municipality, has recently experienced service delivery
protests, which led to some councillors’ houses being gutted down by fire.
Recently, the local sphere of government has experienced service delivery
protests targeted at municipal leadership. In the Nkangala District, Delmas, Dr
JS Moroka, Thembisile and Kriel were affected.
As a result, Premier Makwetla will early in the morning interact with the
local political leadership and municipal officials in the area in order to
develop immediate to long term interventions aimed at improving communication
between the community and councillors thus leading to improved service delivery.
Premier Makwetla will in the afternoon interact with the public at the
imbizo that is convened to accord local residents with an opportunity to raise
concerns relating to service local service delivery.
