LAUNCH OF R4.5 MILLION MPUMALANGA FURNITURE FACTORY.

Premier Thabang Makwetla will deliver a keynote address during the launch of Mpumalanga Furniture Factory at Kabokweni near White River. Mpumalanga Furniture Factory is a subsidiary of Reboni Furniture (Pty) Ltd (Reboni), one of the largest and leading exporter of economically designed educational and office furniture.

The joint venture initiative by Reboni saved 45 workers’ jobs and created additional jobs for 15 local people. The initiative will go a long way in addressing the unemployment and underdevelopment challenges as the twin enemies of Mpumalanga Province. With the production capacity of 2 000 desks per day, several local Small Medium Micro Enterprises (SMME’s) in the province will be able to sustain their businesses through regular supply of manufactured furniture.

According to Statistics South Africa (STATS SA)‘s recent labour force survey, Mpumalanga Province has employed more than 70 000 people in the manufacturing sector alone. In this case, the manufacturing of furniture taps into the rich natural resources, which are provided by Agriculture and Forestry industry that accounted for more than 114 400 employment in Mpumalanga .

Part of Government ‘s programme is to encourage such partnerships to create jobs and fight poverty thereby build a better life for all.
