PREMIER'S REMARKS AFTER THE CONFIRMATION OF HIS PREMIERSHIP

Mr Speaker,
Deputy Speaker,
Members of Legislature,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen.

I express my heartfelt greetings to you all, coupled with sincere gratitudes for having shown confidence in me by confirming my appointment as the Premier of Mpumalanga.

One of my favourite poet once wrote that "the ship has weathered every rock and the price we sought is won" .

As the Captain of this triumphantship, I will like to thank the crew as well, that is all people of Mpumalanga who went out in great numbers to the polling stations to register our victory.

The Government you have strived for, belong to you all, and is there to cater for your affordable needs.

Aristotle, one of the great philosophers once said, the main function of the government is not only to make life possible, but to make it good as well'. With very limited financial resources this government will try to improve the living standards of people of this province.

Mr Speaker, as one who was born and bred in Mpumalanga, I have love of this province and its people at heart. I promise to serve the province and its people at heart. I promise to serve the province with dedication and loyalty.

I will see to it that, fastened delivery of qualitative services is equally rendered to all people of the province regardless of colour, political affilliation, religion and creep.

Clean administration is the crux of my leadership, and all forms of corruption when discovered will be treated without any mercy. Judicious utilization of government resources and the realization of professional working ethics will not be comprised.

Mr Speaker, I want to reiterate what I have been saying since I started working in this province.

I have been saying that, the government will remain accountable to the people.

There will be a constant reporting to the communities regarding the success we achieve or problems we encounter.

I make a special plea to all people to join hands in governing this province because, I strongly believe in collective governance.

In conclusion Mr Speaker, my eagle eyes are focused on economic growth of this province, and no stone will be left unturned in an endeavour to enter into discussions with potential investors from all over the world.

The Government will also look in the direction of empowering our own people, to get in business and contribute in alleviating the high rate of employment experienced in the province.

Prevention of crime cannot be left unattended because this, scares business from investing in the country, and those already in business are disinvesting.

The government will also look in quality education, health and welfare services.

Thank you.
