Municipal by-elections scheduled for 7 December 2011 in Mpumalanga

Municipal by-elections will take place in five (5) Municipalities on Wednesday, 7 December in Mpumalanga. A total of six wards with 28 voting districts will be a hive of activity as voters are expected to be visiting to cast their votes. 

The Municipalities and affected wards are as follows: 

  • Albert Luthuli
    • Ward 2 will be contested by Busisiwe Prisca Hlatshwayo of the National Freedom Party (NFP), Mduduzi Ezekiel Maduna of the African National Congress (ANC), Dumisani Justice Ndebele of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and Goodbye Ben Shabangu of the Congress of the people (COPE)
    • The following voting stations will be opened; Lindzalokuhle Primary School, Mabombe Primary School, Rev. SA Nkosi High School, Zithobe Primary School.  
  • Msukaligwa
    • Ward  4 will be contested by Margaret Sthombe Mosia of the Congress Of the People (COPE), Monica Zanele Mtungwa of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and Bongani Ntuthuko Nkosinathi Ndlovu of the African national Congress (ANC)
    • The following voting stations will be opened; Roman Catholic Church and New Holy Spirit Catholic Church
    • Ward 10 will be contested by Bafana Paulos Mabango of the Congress of the People (COPE), Simon Sipho Mthimunye of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and Dingiswayo Simon Nkosi of the African national Congress (ANC).
    • The following stations will be opened; KwaDela Community Hall, New Life Church, Umfudlana Combined School, Siza farm School, KwaShaka School, Remhoogte Farm School, Cala School
  • Thaba Chweu
    • Ward 10 will be contested by, Quintan Paul Benjamin Lawrence of the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Raymond Thumbu of the African National Congress (ANC).
      • The by Election will take place in the following voting stations Graskop Tlc Hall, Waterhoutboom and Mondi Sawmill Village School.
  • Mbombela
    • Ward 5 will be contested by Thabiso David Tsela of the African National Congress (ANC) and Ethwel Sikhumbuzo Phiri of the Pan African Congress (PAC).
    • The by Election will be held in the following voting stations; Bhekiswako Secondary, Salubindza General Dealer, Apostolic Gospel, Mashukela General Dealer, St.Johns, Phola Secondary, Mdzimba
  • Bushbuckridge
    • Ward 21 will be contested by Mthibula Levis Thete of the African National Congress (ANC), Politicia Mashile of the African Peoples Convention, Secruse Mashile of the Bushbuckridge Ratepayers Association and an Independent candidate Daniel Mokgope.
    • The following voting stations will be opened Tladishe High School, Makgahlishe Primary School, Letsamaile Primary School, Eckson Masotja Primary School, and Baptist Church

Voting stations will be open from 07h00 to 21h00.
