Breakfast session by MEC with external bursary learners

The MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Norman Mokoena will have a breakfast session with students that the department has issued with bursaries for the 2010/11 financial year.
The department advertised external bursaries in November 2009 and two hundred and eighty two (282) applications were received, 23 were shortlisted and approved by the HOD. These students are currently studying at various higher institutions of learning throughout the country. They are studying in fields that include Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Town and Regional Planning and Financial Management. These fields are some of the areas that have been identified as scarce skills in municipalities and throughout the province. Once the students have completed their studies they will go a long way in closing these gaps.
