Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

Inauguration of Inkosi Themba Yende of Oganyaneni Traditional Authority

11 March 2013

The Ogenyaneni Traditional Authority and the Yende Royal Family will hold a ceremony to inaugurate Inkosi Themba Yende. Inkosi Yende’s official recognition is a culmination of the work of the Provincial Committee on Claims and Disputes on Traditional Leadership. The committee had received 169 claims and disputes that were thoroughly investigated. 29 of those claims were finalised and only two were found to be valid, that of Mahlobo and Yende Traditional Authorities.

The Ogenyani Traditional Authority and community were victims of forced removals during the apartheid regime that led to them being displaced. The official recognition of this Traditional Authority is aimed at restoring this community.

The event will be attended by the MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr SPD Skhosana, the Executive Mayor of Gert Sibande District Municipality, Cllr M Nhlabatsi, Executive Mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality, Cllr B Mtshali and the Provincial Chairperson of the House of Traditional Leaders, Kgoshi Mathibela Mokoena and his Executive Committee among others.

The Media is invited to be part of this event that is scheduled as follows:
  • Date: 16 March 2013 (Saturday)
  • Time: 10H00
  • Venue: Iswepe Sports Ground (Mkhondo Local Municipality)
