Mandela Day Celebration at Draaikraal

12  July 2010

The MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) in Mpumalanga, Mr Norman Mokoena will be celebrating the Nelson Mandela Day with the community of Draaikral in Thaba Chweu Municipality. During the celebration, the community will be able to apply for crucial services such as Birth Certificates and Social Grants on the spot. In addition, the community will be tested for health matters such as Diabetes and eyes for free.

Mandela will be turning 91 years on July 18. As part of the celebration, people are asked to donate at least 67 minutes of their time in service to their communities. Sixty-seven minutes is a symbolic number, representing the number of years Mr Mandela was actively involved in social activism.
