Relief Aid Provided to storm-affected areas in Nkomazi

The Mpumalanga Provincial Government has provided relief aid in the
form of blankets, food parcels and tents to the families that were affected by a
storm that was accompanied by strong winds that hit Jeppes Reef and Magudu areas
in the Nkomazi municipality on Saturday evening. A total of 85 houses and 2
schools were affected by the storm, 75 houses in Jeppes Reef and 10 houses at
Magudu. 18 people were injured and were taken to the Tonga Hospital, 3 of
them were critical.
Disaster officials from the province, Nkomazi local municipality and
Ehlanzeni District municipality have visited the area to conduct an assessment.
The preliminary assessment indicates that most of the houses had their roofs
blown off and some of the streets were damaged. The Disaster Management Team is
continuing with its assessment.
