MEC Masuku to meet with various community leaders in the province
21 November 2012
The MEC for the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Madala Masuku will embark on a programme of meeting all Ward Councillors, Traditional Leaders, Traditional Councillors, Ward Committees and Community Development Workers (CDW’s) in the province. The meetings by MEC Masuku will be held in each of the three districts in the province i.e. Gert Sibande, Nkangala and Ehlanzeni.
These engagements will seek to address the tensions that seem to exist between Ward Councillors, Traditional Leaders, Traditional Councillors, Ward Committees and CDW’s by forging and harmonising relations amongst these stakeholders for the purpose of improved service delivery. It will also enable the department to clarify the roles of all these stakeholders operating in the same space.
Ward Committees and Traditional Councils have been established and elected to enhance public participation; CDW’s are appointed to strengthen the linkage between the government and ordinary citizens for effective service delivery. With all these stakeholders operating in once space MEC Masuku has felt it important that they all come together and create a platform for them to engage on how they can complement each other, and their role in rural development.
The media is invited to join MEC Masuku in his first engagement with Ward Councillors, Traditional Leaders, Traditional Councillors, Ward Committees and CDW’s scheduled as follows:
