COGTA and Gift of the Givers handover food parcels and basic needs to disaster victims and impoverished families
In the middle of January 2011 the province experienced
heavy rain falls that resulted in floods in the lowveld area. As a result a
number of residents were negatively affected by these floods. The Mpumalanga
Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs in partnership with
Gift of the Givers will be handing over donations of food parcels and basic
needs to disaster victims and impoverished families. Items that will be donated
are a total of 35 tons of food parcels and basic needs. These food parcels are
enough to feed 500 families and are estimated to be valued at close to R1
million.
This event will be attended by, COGTA MEC, Mr Madala Masuku, Executive Mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Cllr Letta Shongwe and Ehlanzeni Local Municipalities’ Executive Mayors and Councillors.
