Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

Delivery of stationery and textbooks at 99.9%

04 December 2012

Following a smooth process of procuring and delivery of textbooks and stationery, the Mpumalanga Department of Education is confident that there will be no learner that will be without stationery or textbooks in the 2013 school year.

So far, the delivery of stationery valued at R80.7 million is standing at 100%, meaning that all schools have received it. The stationery has been procured as per the needs and requisitions received from schools.

Textbooks for grades 4, 5, 6 and 11 have already been procured and 99.7% dispatched and delivered to schools. The Department is pulling all strings to ensure that by the end of this week the delivery rate stands at 100%.

The MEC for Education, Mrs Reginah Mhaule has commended all role players who made it possible that the department achieve this outcome.

I commend all role players for the visionary leadership in this regard, It is our wish that preparations for 2013 are concluded on time this year so that when schools re-open teaching and learning should commence without any hassles. This is good news and really encouraging that we have delivered the learning and teaching resources on time.”

On 27 November 2012, the Provincial Treasury allocated the Department R40 million for the procurement of Top Up material for Grade 1, 2,3,10 and 12.

A process has already been put in motion for fulfilling this mandate and it is anticipated that these top ups will be received by schools not later than March 2013.

Schools are urged to retrieve textbooks at the end of the year and they will be further required to report on LTSM matters during the 10 day snap survey in January 2013.
