Ligbron Academy shines at the 10th Public Sector Awards

The MEC for Education, Mrs Reginah Mhaule congratulates Ligbron Academy, for winning two Prestigious Awards at the 10th Public Sector Innovation awards 2012, which took place on Friday, 02 November 2012 at Emperors Palace.
Ligbron Academy received two national awards under the categories, Innovative Service Delivery Institution – Schools and for Innovator of the year.
The Academy impressed the judges by their project where six rural schools are now connected to them through a wireless network with a radius of more than 50km, this therefore allows them to share lessons, material and resources through an integrated system that includes interactive SMARTboards, web-cameras and LCD displays.
This initiative plays a positive impact on the pass-rate in Mathematics and Science in the connected schools.
“As the department of Education, we are extremely proud of Ligbron Academy, as their achievement not only shines for themselves but reigns on the whole province. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours and hope that their positive spirits in serving Mpumalanga will have a ripple effect on the rest of the province.

The purpose of the Pubic Sector Awards is to promote and encourage best practices in public sector innovation and service delivery and also celebrate the success of individuals, teams and departments in the quest for a more effective, efficient and accountable government.
The award recognises successful and effective service delivery projects and initiatives that are achieved through the application of innovative approaches, methodologies and tools, and provide opportunities for information sharing and learning as well as possibilities for partnership and the replication of successful initiatives throughout the country.
