Unannounced visits to schools

The Mpumalanga MEC for Education, Mrs Reginah Mhaule,
invites the media to accompany her on her unannounced visits to schools
scheduled as follows:
First visit
Date: Tuesday, 18 August 2009
Region: Ehlanzeni region

School: To be confirmed on Monday, 17 August 2009, afternoon
Second visit
Date: Thursday, 20 August 2009
Region: Gert Sibande region
Time: 07h00
School: To be confirmed on Wednesday, 19 August 2009, afternoon
The intention of these unannounced visits is to take stock
of the extent to which schools are implementing the non-negotiables (i.e.
teachers teach for seven hours every school day. Teachers should be in school,
in class, on time, teaching, with no neglect of duty and no abuse of pupils) as
per the Quality Learning and Teaching campaign and focus on the schools which
are underperforming.
