Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

Grade 12 examinations are progressing very well

13 November 2012

The Mpumalanga Department of Education confirms that there is no leak of any grade 12 Mathematics paper or any other grade 12 paper written by the provincial class of 2012. The Department is therefore satisfied with the manner at which the grade 12 examinations are progressing.

Yesterday, 12 November 2012, the candidates wrote Life Sciences, Engineering Graphics, and Design Paper 1 and reports indicate that the writing of both papers progressed very well. The only alleged leak is a grade 10 Mathematics paper at the Nkangala District.

The District initiated Common Task Assessments to improve the quality of their internal assessment.  To this effect, we can confirm that the Nkangala District is investigating two cases of alleged leaked Internal Assessment Question papers for grade 10 following an alert received last Tuesday.

The Nkangala District Management had to take precautionary measures by replacing the assessment papers with alternative ones to ensure that the integrity of the assessment is not compromised.

While these are internal papers, the department views this development very seriously and will do everything to get into the bottom of this matter to ensure that the culprits are found and brought to book.

The Department will work closely with the SAPS in this regard and more information will be made available after we have concluded our investigation.

So far, the Grade 12 examinations are progressing very well throughout the Province and no major glitches have been reported.
