Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

Government wants to understand your needs

26 November 2012

In an effort to understand the conditions under which the people of Mpumalanga live and for government to deliver appropriate services, the Mpumalanga Provincial Government will visit households to collect information.

Members of the community are requested to please welcome the data collectors when they come to your household. They will carry formal letters of introduction.

This is part of the War on Poverty Campaign which was launched in the Province on 30 January 2009 at Sikhwahlane Village in Nkomazi Local Municipality.

This approach in dealing with issues of poverty is focused, responds to individual and community needs and promotes integration and co-ordination of services by Government departments and other stakeholders.

Mpumalanga Cabinet approved 7 municipalities namely Nkomazi, Bushbuckridge, Thembisile Hani, Dr JS Moroka, Pixley ka Isaka Seme, Mkhondo and Albert Luthuli to be supported under this campaign. These municipalities are the most deprived and are in rural areas.

Mpumalanga will now roll out the profiling project beyond these 7 municipalities and reach out to all 18 municipalities in the Province.

Profiled information will be analysed and reports generated. These reports will indicate the type of interventions needed by each household and the community at large.

The interventions will be classified as short, medium and long term. Short term interventions will immediately be provided by stakeholders. Medium to long term interventions will be incorporated into government plans so that budgets can be allocated.
