New head of department for human settlement steps in

The Mpumalanga Department of Human Settlements has a new head of administration (HOD) as from 1 December 2009.

Mr David Dube has been appointed as the new Head of Department. Mr Dube joined government in 1986. He joined the then Department Housing and Land Administration and also worked in the Department of Local Government and Housing as a Director, before the latter department was split again into the Department of Housing. His appointment comes as he was acting Chief Director Incremental Housing in the renamed in the Department of Human Settlements.

Mr Dube takes over from Mr Cyril Dlamini who has been acting as Head of Department for the past two and half years. Mr Dlamini thanked all the staff for the commitment, dedication and cooperation he received during his tenure. He also said that he learnt a lot during his stint in the office. He is now reverting to his former position of chief financial officer.

“The expertise I received as an acting head of department will help me to improve and execute my duties better in that office” he explained.

He will also expect the same commitment, dedication and cooperation from the staff moving forward.

Mr David Dube expressed appreciation and praised the former acting head of department including all programme managers and colleagues in the department as he officially resumes his new position. Mr Dube said that he will continue to utilise the expertise in the department to continue to improve on service delivery.

“The department is well spoken of at different forums and I would like to maintain the standard the department has outside” he charged. The department has a new mandate of delivering services in an integrated sustainable manner.
