MEC Masango to outline better plans for Human Settlements delivery

On the 22nd of May 2012 proper plans for the creation of integrated and sustainable human settlements in municipalities of Mpumalanga will be outlined by MEC Siphosezwe Masango when he  delivers his 2012/2013 Policy and Budget Speech at the Provincial Legislature, Nelspruit. MEC Masango is expected to reflect on achievements made in previous financial year such as: the delivering of the Breaking New Grounds Projects at Klarinet, development of Rental stock at Emakhazeni as well as some challenges that were encountered.

The Department of Human settlements will give special attention on sustainable Human Settlements and on how to improve quality of household life. The key focus will be on critical outcomes areas as determined by Outcome 8. The action plan will include the following issues:

  • Upgrading informal settlements and rental stock target
  • Improve access to basic services
  • Provision of accommodation within the gab market
  • To mobilize well located public land for low income and affordable housing.

The new mandate will further sustain all human settlements through providing amenities for the communities that also provide job opportunities, in this way human dignity will be restored and with economic benefit in the disadvantaged communities. The delivery of the Policy & Budget Speech is scheduled as follows:
