Mpumalanga to launch Operation Clean Audit 2014

The Premier of Mpumalanga, Honourable David Mabuza and the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr Norman Mokoena, will launch the provincial Operation Clean Audit 2014.

The launch will also be attended by all MEC’s, mayors and chief executive officers of entities in the province. Operation Clean Audit will assist all municipalities, provincial departments and entities to achieve clean audit opinions by 2014 and improve and sustain the quality of financial statements.

Certain targets have been set for Operation Clean Audit, these include ensuring that between 2010 and 2011 no municipalities, provincial departments and entities receive adverse and disclaimer audit opinions, at least 60 percent of the municipalities, provincial departments and entities achieve unqualified audit opinions by 2012, ensuring an increase in municipalities, provincial departments and entities achieving unqualified audit percentage by 2013 and that all provincial departments, municipalities and entities achieve unqualified audit opinions by 2014.

Operation Clean Audit will also address all issues raised by the Auditor-General and reduce vulnerability of risks in the municipalities, provincial departments and entities audit reports through targeted projects central to the sustainability of sound financial management accountability and best practices.

All municipalities, provincial department and entities will sign a pledge committing them to full filling Operation Clean Audit 2014.
