19 November 2009
Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza will deliver a keynote
address during the 2009 Premier‘s Service Excellence and Youth
Awards (PSEYA) ceremony that will take place on Thursday, 26 November
2009 at Ella de Bruin Town Hall in Msukaligwa Local Municipality.
The main purpose of these awards is to encourage the
collective efforts and innovative practices within the public service as well as
recognise individual excellence in delivering services to the people. These
awards also form part of government’s efforts to instill the Batho Pele vision
of continually improving the lives of the people of South Africa by a
transformed public service, which is representative, coherent, transparent,
efficient, effective, accountable and responsive to the needs of all.
The Mpumalanga Provincial government together with
Msukaligwa Local Municipality, PriceWaterhouseCoopers and SABC as media sponsor
will ensure that we host a successful award ceremony. This year, the scope of
Batho Pele categories has been extended to include teams from the local
government structures.
Public servants will be awarded prizes in four categories
of Batho Pele, namely, Education, Health and Clinics, Municipalities and Back
Office operations. In each of these categories, Gold, Silver and Bronze prizes
will be awarded with a cash value of R22 500, R15 000 and R 7 500, respectively.
Winners of the youth category will be rewarded for
excellence in entrepreneurship and job creation, education, volunteerism and
culture, sport and arts. In each of the categories winners will receive Gold,
Silver and Bronze with additional cash prize of R20 000, R10 000 and R5 000
respectively.
Guests at this glittering event will witness 24 teams and
individuals receiving certificates of excellence and a whooping R320 000 in cash
prizes. This event will live according to its theme “Working together in
recognition of quality service delivery and youth empowerment”.
