Legal fraternity poorer with Ngobeni’s demise- MEC Shongwe

1 July 2013

The passing on of Chief Magistrate David Ngobeni has not only robbed Mpumalanga of a dedicated and hardworking member of Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS) but has also robbed the legal fraternity of one of the most seasoned minds, this is according to Mpumalanga Community Safety and Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe.

Shongwe said this today following Ngobeni’s passing on over the weekend after a long illness. He said it is not only the cluster that lost a member but the majority of the law abiding citizens of Mpumalanga and the country has lost one of the key catalysts in the war against criminality,

“We are going to miss Chief Magistrate Ngobeni for his outstanding work in the cluster and his dedication towards ensuring that those who perpetrated crime face the consequences. He was a dedicated, fearless individual who put the people of this country first,” the MEC said.

At the time of his death, he was the judicial administrative head of the Mpumalanga lower court cluster. He was also on the 23-member Council of the SA Judicial Education Institute, which is chaired by Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng.

“On behalf of the Cluster and the people of Mpumalanga, we are sending our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Ngobeni. We pray that God gives them strength in this difficult moment. We will continue to work hard to bring perpetrators of crime to book in his memory,” Shongwe concluded.
