6 January 2011

Mpumalanga Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Vusi Shongwe has condemned and expressed deep shock at the killing of Ehlanzeni District Municipality Chief Whip, Councillor Johan Ndlovu yesterday morning [Wednesday, 5 January 2001].

Ndlovu died as a result of three bullet wounds he sustained while being shot at during the early hours of Wednesday.

His body was discovered near his home after an unidentified man told his wife where to find him in the Edinburgh village near Bushbuckridge in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

While condemning the incident, the MEC is calling on the police to ensure that they bring the culprits to book so that they could face the full extent of the law.

Shongwe has also called on the community to assist the police in their quest to bring about perpetrators to the book.

Shongwe has also called on the Bushbuckridge community and the family of the deceased to remain calm and that no one should attempt to take the law into their own hands as the matter is now with the police.

Meanwhile, He has already visited the family where he promised that the police will leave no stone unturned to crack the case.

“We are going to set an example with this case that criminals do not have any place in our society. Whoever did this will pay the ultimate price,” said Shongwe.
