Five people die in a vehicle collision

Five people have died in an accident involving a sedan and a bus in Piet Retief yesterday [19 July 2012] at about 17:45.
Preliminary investigation shows that a grey Renault sedan that was travelling from Piet Retief town towards the direction of Pongola collided side-swipe with an oncoming bus whilst overtaking another vehicle.
Three people from the Renault including the driver died on the spot and it is alleged that the fourth deceased was a pedestrian.
Three slight injured people and one with serious injuries were rushed to hospital. The seriously injured person later died in the hospital.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
The MEC for Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison Mr Vusi Shongwe sends condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes speedy recovery to the injured.
