Policy and budget speech for Department of Cooperative Governance and
Traditional Affairs

Mpumalanga MEC for the Department of Co-operative Governance and
Traditional Affairs, Mr Norman Mohlalefi Mokoena, will deliver the policy and
budget speech for the 2010/11 financial year.
In his presentation MEC Mokoena will reflect on concrete plans for the
implementation of the outcomes of the provincial local government indaba in
building a developmental state through responsive, accountable, effective and
efficient local government system in the Province. The MEC will outline the
department’s plans to improve the quality and quantity of municipal basic
services; building and strengthening the administrative, institutional and
financial capabilities of municipalities; enhancing municipal contribution to
job creation and sustainable livelihoods through local economic development;
ensuring the development of reliable and credible IDPs; strengthening and
supporting the institution of Traditional Leadership
