Welcome to the Mpumalanga Provincial Government

EXCO Media Statement

03 March 2022

The Executive Council (EXCO) convened a meeting on Wednesday to consider the second adjustment budget due to an extra allocation to the Provincial Government. The meeting follows the State of the Province Address (SOPA) tabled by the Premier, Ms Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane in the legislature last week on Friday.

By tabling the SOPA, the Premier sought to provide feedback to the citizens of the province about the commitments made in the previous financial year, plans to address service delivery challenges, infrastructure development, job creation initiatives and the improvement of health and education facilities in Mpumalanga.

Among the departments with an extra allocation is the Public Works, Roads and Transport (PWR&T). The department will utilize the allocation for the construction and refurbishment of roads in the province. The main appropriation will be tabled on the 8th of March 2022 (Tuesday) in the legislature by MEC for Provincial Treasury, Mr Vusi Mkhatshwa.

During the sitting EXCO advised all Departments to apply stringent measures in the utilization of allocated funds, in light of limited financial resources. Furthermore, EXCO advised Departments to monitor the implementation of allocated budgets for effective service delivery.
