OFFICIAL HANDOVER OF EMAKHAZENI BOARDING SCHOOL

More than 700 learners who used to walk long distances to five small and multi-grades schools are now receiving quality education at a door step in a state of the art full service Boarding School which became operational in January 2015.

Emakhazeni Boarding School came to fruition following an injunction by the Honourable Premier; Mr. DD Mabuza that all children from farm areas and those that are orphaned must be assisted by the provincial government with decent school environment to receive the quality of education that is guaranteed by the country’s constitution.

The Boarding school comprises of 24 Classrooms, integrated walkways, Administration Block, 35 Toilets, Computer Centre, Library Block, Science Laboratory, Guard House and Refuse Area, Kitchen, Dining Hall, Water, Sewer, Electrical Bulk-infrastructure, Fencing, Paving, Parking Facilities, Sports Facilities x 3 including Toilets and Change Rooms Facilities, Land Scarping, Ramps and Rails, Grade R, Boys and Girls Sleeping Units Boarding House x 8

This boarding school will be officially handed over at an occasion scheduled as follows:

Date: 13 February 2015 (Friday)
Venue: Emakhazeni Boarding School, Machadodorp
Time: 13H00 (formal programme starts

Emakhazeni Boarding School adds to the other three boarding schools that are already operational within the province namely Ezakheni and Izimbali Boarding Schools which are both at Mkhondo Local Municipality as well as Shongwe Boarding School that is situated at Nkomazi Local Municipality.

“This is government's endeavour to ensure that learners from rural areas and those that are from poverty stricken areas equally receive quality education. The Department is encouraged that already each of the four Districts has a fully fledged boarding facility to rid the education system of the small and multi-grade schools. I n this regard I request parents to appreciate this patriotic gesture and to support the education of their children,” said MEC for Education.
